*My new home* DIY con latas recicladas - Recycled cans DIY_02

¡¡Hola decoraddicters!!

Hi decoraddicters!! How lovely are these Wednesdays that looks like Fridays, there should be many more like this! :D *My new home* today’s post is about an easy and very practical DIY project. The idea is to fabricate a cutlery holder recycling metal cans. I’ll now detail the steps to follow:

  9. ¡¡El porta cubiertos está listo para usar!! :)
  1. Get 6 cans without cover and sand the edges. Tip: better to opt for tall cans.
  2. Paint all cans inside and outside with the color of your preference and let it dry for 24 hours. Tip: preferably use synthetic enamel paint to avoid moisture.
  3. Get a rectangular piece of wood and paint it on the same color or a new tone that combines with the first one. Tip: add white paint to the original color to obtain a lighter but similar one. You can choose not to paint neither the cans or the piece of wood and keep the original materials in sight.
  4. Make a hole on each can with a thick nail and a hammer to put the screw afterwards.
  5. Use a pencil to mark on the wood the location of the hole corresponding to each can.
  6. With a hammer, drill each mark with a nail to open the holes.
  7. Put each can and a screw in every hole and then screw them on the wood to hold the cans.
  8. Cut a leather strap and with a hammer, screw it to the top of the wood piece to use it as a handle. Tip: you can also use other leather straps to put the corresponding name on each can.
  9. Your cutlery holder is ready for use!! :)
